Why analyse Calcium ? The presence of Calcium in Fresh or Saltwater plays a major physiological role. Calcium is essential for skeletal formation in fish and crustaceans. It is also essential for healthy coral growth and shell formation. Water containing low levels of Calcium decreases growth and reduces disease resistance. Although this test can be used in Freshwater, the main importance for the kit is in Marine Water. In Freshwater, it is usefull to know the general water hardness to get a proper picture of the Calcium level.
